Newberry, South Carolina / Renovation

Project Overview

This project was a complete renovation of a large historic textile mill in Newberry, South Carolina.

The Oakland Mill Luxury Apartment Homes are divided into a high-end residential side and a dormitory side that serves students at Newberry College.  The college’s campus is just down the street.

Every window in the building was filled with brick in the 1950’s.  I found the original drawings for the building and brought the original window design back to life.

My Role: Primary Intern Architect

I worked directly with the building’s owner from Schematic Design through Contract Documents with minimal supervision from the project's lead Architect.  The project's owner was an electrical contractor by trade and decided to do their own Construction Administration.
